The Maasai of East Africa apply body art on the celebration of the festival of the Moran or warrior. I believe life is a series of trapeze swings. What happens when you let go of one trapeze bar and you are left flying in mid-air? This is where I found myself six years ago when my mother and sister died four months apart. My mother passed away in a psychiatric ward, unconscious on a feeding tube because she refused to eat. Her heart couldn't take the strain. My sister chose a long suicide of breast cancer. She made the decision following her diagnosis to simply die, no treatment. Eight years prior, her husband had succumbed to leukemia and at that time my sister attempted suicide and failed. When she discovered the lump, she found her way out without any intervention. My sister kept her diagnosis secret for two years, until the week of her death.

The moment after her funeral ended, I began to relentlessly regurgitate. This was the beginning of a chronic condition that caused me to vomit without provocation, sometimes leaving me incapacitated for hours. After two years of misdiagnosis, I found myself in a hospital with a rare digestive disorder called Gastroparesis ---a partial paralysis of digestion. I had lost the beats in my stomach that allowed food to move down ---anything I tried to ingest - even water - got stuck and came back up. To make matters more difficult, I was told that this condition is most commonly found in diabetics, which I am not. The ailment I had is called idiopathic gastroparesis, meaning the cause of my symptoms are not known beyond that is it associated with severe trauma. I called it a broken stomach heart lined with terror and grief.

As a healer experiencing this agonizing setback, I knew I had to rise like the proverbial phoenix from my own ashes. My story has everything: grief, remorse, guilt, anger, death and reincarnation. Not the reincarnation of the dead, but reincarnation of my inner self that I had lost through irrational, routine rhythms of life.

There are treasures to be found in this area but it requires patience and long years of hard and sincere work. It can be opted both as a hobby and as a profession. The painting in general and the paintings of body of a cloth-less woman in particular had remained the 'bastion of male painters' for a long time. It had made the art of figurative painting more or less male oriented. Paintings were done as seen from the eyes of males exclusively.

Many a time, on seeing these paintings, especially of the paintings depicting unclothed beauty of a female body, we tend to believe that these pieces of art are painted for satisfying the male gaze only. The artists who painted these females looked prejudiced in highlighting those parts of a female body where the males 'invests' their eyes much and would take pleasure in looking at the same.

It’s never the right one that wins, right? The jury were celebrities, which I never think is a good idea. Better would be to choose a jury of persons with a big knowledge and long experience of the subject - in this case body painting.

Mark Reid from USA was also participating - ranked 3rd in in the World at the World Body Painting Festival 2008. (See my other post with the video where he is painting jeans on a girl).

He was also going to hold a body painting seminar on Monday after the competition, as well as Alex Hansen and the very talented Einat Dan.

Calling it exploitative and suppressive, Gambling911.com Senior International Correspondent, Jenny Woo, has decided not to participate in next month's Jamaica Hedonism Body Painting sex junket .

The event, which takes place May 6-10, features some of Miami's hottest models getting their bodies painted, presumably for some calendar.

While Woo is mentioned on the site as scheduled to appear, she has other ideas.

"Someone of my journalistic stature doesn't need to be frolicking around naked with a bunch of girls who aren't exactly rocket scientists," said Woo. "Rocket scientists are people who find out things about space and if they looked into these girls heads they'd find plenty of that in there."

Digging deeper, Gambling911.com learned that Woo had other reasons for choosing not to attend this internationally acclaimed event.

"My ex brain surgeon boyfriend, Mark, is expected to be there AGAIN," she said. "I can care less about bumping into him. It's just that whenever they were trying to shoot a scene with us girls last time, Hercules would always jump in the middle of the picture with his chiseled chest, which is almost as big as mine incidentally. He would flex in most pictures. Don't get me wrong. Mark has a great body but it does make up for other deficiencies I suppose. Let's just say I can time the sex with one of those cheap ‘Made in China' stop watches that only go to five minutes."

Woo's decision may be more difficult than it seems since the event's organizer, John Neyrot, was the first to photograph the Christiana Amanpour of online gambling news.

"John's work is excellent," she said. "I just wish they'd keep the riff raff home (like Mark) and focus on the real stars...like ME."

Woo did have one positive thing to say about her ex.

"After about a day of trying, the brain surgeon figured out how to plug all our computers into the high speed Internet outlets at the resort. He just finally realized you take the plug and stick it in the outlet. Unfortunately the Internet connection only lasted about the same time Mark did after he would plug his little Hercules into my outlet. Needless-to-say, nothing uploaded.
