Michelle Branch Body Painting

Michelle Branch is a tremendously talented and beautiful American singer-songwriter and guitarist.

Michelle Branch has several Body Painting on her body, including the word "Right" and Left" on the inside of each wrist.

The Body Painting on her back include, a star at the bottom of her neck, a blue musical note on her left shoulder and some Japanese Kanji on her lower back.

Some of her other Body Painting include, a large cowgirl holding a revolver on her left forearm, three flowers on her right shoulder, plus a small heart on her ring finger and a star on her hip and ankle.

Boy George Body Painting

Boy George is an accomplished English singer-songwriter who is best known as the frontman of the New wave band, Culture Club.

Boy George has a handful of Body Painting on his body, including a large "star of David" on the top of his head, along with a lotus flower on the back of his head.

His other Body Painting include the letter "G" with some tribal design located behind his right ear, a cross on his right shoulder and some unknown text on his right hand.

Brandon Boyd Body Painting

Brandon Boyd is an excellent American musician who is best known as the lead singer of the rock band Incubus.

Brandon Boyd has multiple Body Painting which we have spotted, including a a large winged pyramid with an eye, alongside an owl/griffin on his upper back.

The Body Painting on his right arm includes the Tibetan Buddhist mantra "Om Mani Padme Hum", and a two koi fish designs.

Some of his other Body Painting include, a large red Koi fish and a mans face among other Body Painting on his left forearm area.

Bow Wow Body Painting

Bow Wow is a creative and talented American rapper/actor who is best known for his albums, Unleashed and The Price of Fame.

Bow Wow has several Body Painting on his body, mainly on both of his arms and shoulders, plus a large Body Painting in the center of his chest which reads "Prince of the O-town".

The Body Painting on his left arm include, a large clown, the letter "B", money bag, plus many others.

The Body Painting on his right arm include, the praying hands of Jesus, a prayer, a vertical line of old English style letters, a paw print, plus many other designs.

Some of his other Body Painting include, a rose, dice with flames, heart/diamond/spade/club, the phrase "Only God can judge me", his mothers name and face, flaming skull, "Boy Wonder" and a few other Body Painting as well.

With the World Body Painting Festival (and of course the Body Painting Award) coming up on the 17th of July, it's about time to get you all fired up in your body painting know-how.

More about this festival coming soon, but first a short introduction in the art of body painting.

Body painting is a form of body art, and has probably been around since the beginning of civilization. In almost every tribalist culture, body painting was performed during ceremonies or merely just for the beauty of it. Back then they used clay and other natural pigments.
Body painting still survives in parts of the world, and especially 'Mehndi', the form of body painting that uses henna dyes, is now very popular in the western world. The henna tattoo is semi-permanent.

Since the 1960's, body painting emerged as an actual art form. However, there is the never-ending discussion about it's social acceptability because body painting practically always involves nudity.

But no art without paint of course, and you'll be happy to know that the paint is restricted to guidelines: the body paint has to be non-toxic and non-allergenic. The paint easily washes of with water and soap.

As for the henna dyes, which Mehndi uses, there's a difference between the synthetic black henna, and the natural brown henna. The natural henna dye is completely safe when body painting, but the synthetic black henna dye could cause allergic reactions. You should have yourself patch tested before using these at body painting.
